I grew up with this amazing family. We’ve spent many Christmases, Thanksgivings, Easters, and countless other celebrations together over the years. As we’ve all grown up and gone our separate ways and started families of our own, we haven’t seen each other as often, so this was such a treat and honor for me to capture them all(minus one 🙁 ) when they were together during this past Christmas. Hope they enjoy these as much as I enjoyed my time with them!

Look at these eyes – no need to wonder where those beautiful eyes come from.

Happy New Year!

December 31st, 2011

Here’s a little video I put together for my family of our year (it was done before Christmas though, so next years will have this Christmas in it).  Nothing fancy – didn’t even edit any of the photos, just wanted to have something for Maura to look back on later in life 🙂  Enjoy!

Hope everyone has a joyous and safe New Year!

Just a quick sneak peek from yesterday!  Many more to come…

My mom and dad have 5 kids and each of us has 1 daughter.  Each year my mom buys the girls matching/coordinating Christmas dresses.  I try to take a picture when we are all together of all five of them a)for my mom and our nostalgic purposes and b)because I think it’s so interesting to see each of us represented by the face of our child.  They are all very much their own person with their own look, but I think it’s so interesting to see the different traits of not only their parents, but our family.

Here I used my wit and charm to evoke a good laugh 😉

And seriously – when my niece Bonnie (middle one) is around, there really is no need to be witty and charming, she takes the stage and keeps everyone laughing naturally.

And just cause it’s cute – here’s Maura opening  the gift she’s been hoping Santa would bring her for nearly a year…

Hope everyone had as wonderful a Christmas and we did!

I cannot believe that this moment is here and real.  And to avoid the sappy part, I’ll just go on to the thanking part.

First I have to thank my amazing friends and family for their support over the past two years as I built this business.  I would not be where I am without your encouragement, especially Wes who continually allows me to get whatever gear I need, doesn’t complain when I’m gone on weekends, and even comes along and finds other things to do when I add photo sessions to days we visit friends in other cities.  A big thank you to my marketing guru, Liz, who without I would not know what a meta tag is and would not have had any added to my site, among many other important things that marketing guru’s think of and photographers don’t.  And to Mary, my consultant, who has constantly over the years not only supported me, but lent many a minute to looking at what I had and giving me good and honest feedback.

All the amazing work that was done on this site was done by some amazingly talented people:

Matt Fleming – blackt-shirt.com – Matt did my original logo design and is a favorite Words with Friends opponent of mine.  If you live in Milwaukee you’ve likely seen some of his work at places like Honey Pie, The Garage, and Flabbergast to name just a few.

Bethany Bauman – bethanybauman.com – Bethany is responsible for the graphic design of the website.  To include my favorite part of the whole thing – the couch scroll button – genius.

Jack Payne Currier – www.jackpaynecurrier.com – Jack programmed everything you see and I know did some amazing things with code that is way above my head to make this all work, not only on your computer, but on basically any device that you have that will connect to the internet.

These three all have amazing portfolios which everyone should definitely check out.

The new site is www.amandacouchphotography.com – when you get a chance come check it out. (And since you are already here reading this, just click on the big couch logo on the upper left – it will take you right to the home page 😉 )

So if you follow my blog – come see it at this new location http://www.amandacouchphotography.com/blog/ (update your google reader feeds too!).

I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season with friends and family!

Woke up to a surprise this morning (Actually at 2 a.m. and watched the snow through the lights at Lambeau 😉 ).  Needless to say Maura was very excited so after breakfast we got all dressed up and went outside to enjoy the snow.

Yay! Snow!

And then she asked if she could eat it.  I let her eat the top layer on the play gym…figure then if she eats it elsewhere she might at least go for clean, not on the ground (who am I kidding, I know I ate snow from many a sketchy location as a kid…)

And then the illusive snow angel – she’s been practicing for these for months…

Can’t leave out the 11 year-old puppy. And then on to our first snowman of the year.  He has big eyes.  🙂

And then when it was all over we went inside for hot chocolate of course.

And because during a recent Christmas project I realized that Wes and I are not in nearly enough of these photos.  Basically I document Maura’s life, but at some point in her life, she’ll want to know that we were there and playing and having fun with her instead of what it might look like (that I just made her perform for a camera her whole life).

And if you ever wonder where the Christmas cards you send me go – there they are hanging on the wall on Christmas ribbon.  One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season.  I LOVE going to the mailbox everyday to see what new cards are out there.  Favorite part of every day for sure.
