I can’t get over how adorable this entire family is.  I think I’ll let the abundance of pictures I can’t help but post do the talking on this one.

You know it’s going to be a good day when this is your absolute first image:

Although I’m wondering if those smiles were because I let them jump on mom and dad’s bed…hopefully (if that’s not allowed) these pictures will make up for it 😉

And then finally – here’s Neila 🙂

Peace

And I’ll leave you with the placard that hangs in their house.  Couldn’t say it better myself.

I just love being able to have the opportunity to capture a little one every so often over their first year.  They change so much and it’s so fun to see all the changes.  On top of being adorable this little guy is just a joy. So inquisitive and interested in everything around him.  I can’t wait to see what he has in store for me next time!

Yesterday I was welcomed by these two smiling faces…

Needless to say it was a great start to a great session with a great family – many more to come!

I absolutely ♥ this family.  Many more to come…

iheartfaces – family fun!

January 16th, 2012

It’s always hard to choose between a couple of photos for these challenges, but this time it was a bit easier.  Mostly because this mom and dad seemed to be having just as much (if not more 😉 ) fun than the kids.  I left this session with my cheeks hurting from smiling and laughing so much and that is always a great thing.  Head on over to iheartfaces.com to see more family fun entries!

Photo Challenge Submission

Eeek!

January 14th, 2012

I am a member of the iheartfaces.com community. I love this community and have learned so much from the amazing people there 🙂 They have weekly contests that you can join by posting a photo on your blog or on flickr.com. I entered a photo into their most recent contest for best face of 2011 (and let me tell you, it was so hard to pick, I wanted to put in my favorite photo from each session I did this year!). This weeks contest was judged by the amazing Tara Whitney and I cannot believe I was in the top ten!! Check it out here www.iheartfaces.com

So I started this post before Christmas, but man it’s just  been crazy.  I have to show you these photos for a couple of reasons.  First and foremost, this couple put so much time and effort into all the details.  There were so many amazing, personalized pieces that flowed throughout the whole day of the wedding and they need to be seen!  Second, the dancing at this reception was incredible.  I know that everyone had a great time because I watched everyone have a great time.  Kendal and Steve – thank you so much for having me be a part of your day, it was an honor and a pleasure, and I LOVED my first ever Green River soda 🙂

Slice of life

January 10th, 2012

So as many of you know I am an apple product addict (I’m not that different than most people though – aren’t most of us apple addicts?!?)  But I held off on the iPhone purchase for a long time.  I finally got one two months ago and man, what was I thinking waiting (other than of course it was worth the wait to not have to change service providers and get the 4 for under $100).  I immediately got hooked on the app instagram (which I’m sure everyone probably already knows about since I’m 4 years late to the ball on this one).

I love how smartphones and apps like this have given every person the ability to share what they see with the world.  There are so many different perspectives out there and some amazing photographers that are just sharing beauty with everyone, so if you haven’t checked it out you should!  For me it’s a way to capture the everyday without lugging out my big monster camera.  Turns out that sometimes the big camera can be distracting – who knew 😉

Anyway, I just wanted to share a few of my favorite instagram captures since we’ve moved.  (you can find and follow me on there as iamacouch – but be warned, it is mostly pictures of my kid 😉 )

Zoo!

January 6th, 2012

Maura and I took advantage of the unseasonable warm temperatures and went to the zoo today 🙂

As a photographer, there is always that line of enjoying time with family and capturing moments while you are with family.  I tend to err on the side of enjoying my time as my eyes are the best cameras I know.  Luckily though, it also gives me the opportunity to take short little time outs with each of my nieces and nephews when there is a chance to capture them at each stage in their lives.  Especially when they are at those more difficult ages to photograph and I know that the last thing their parents want to do is spend time arguing with their kids to try and get them to cooperate at a studio.  Instead they just get to talk with their Auntie Manda and hang out in some of their favorite places.  I also sometimes get a chance to photograph their whole families (those posts to come later – I ended up so busy this summer/fall that they haven’t been blogged yet!).  Anyway – I found with the last couple I have done, it has become a sort of study on expression.  They are each their own person and have so many different things going on, these pictures only express a few of the many fun, funny, and crazy emotions these kids share with us everyday.  Hopefully everyone will get a few smiles out of these sets of images.  I know I do.

This is Natalie – we talked about my daughter Maura and lip gloss.

This is Brennan – we talked about tractors.

This is Logan – we talked about football and flatulence 😉
