I have never met such a sleepy baby. He was not only just completely beautiful, he also let us put him in so many different outfits, positions, you name it and he just went right back to sleep. He is an angel 🙂
I had the pleasure of waking up to take these this morning 🙂 Many more to come!
Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Van Someren 🙂
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Kaat!
Beautiful light + long grass + good looking kid = some of my favorite images ever.
I got to meet a wonderful family today who just welcomed this little guy – then I got to hang out with my own wonderful family 🙂 It was a good day.
Every Mother’s Day we go to the zoo. So this morning, I spontaneously said, “Hey, lets go to the zoo quick before it’s too sunny for Maura to be outside.” Mornings are a hard time for Maura – she’s tired and sore and usually likes to sit and do art while she gets ready to be awake and move. But she was a trooper and we had a little bit of fun before she said she was ready to go home. I spent the day thinking about how different things are now. I never imagined I’d find myself celebrating things like – today my nearly four-year-old walked off a curb unassisted and even though we weren’t allowed to make a big deal out of it, the look of pride in her eyes was visible. Or to be excited as I see her struggle to move her legs around in front of her so she can go down the slide at the park. Or that she’d look at me at after crawling up the stairs and say excitedly, “Mommy, I didn’t know I could do that!” But I have to remind myself daily that even though four months ago this was not my normal, it is my normal now AND there are so many families out there that have struggles, no matter the difficulty, they do struggle and I am grateful that where we are now is in a spot of moving forward. The fact that she is going through all of this and still has herself and her personality means the world to me. We are truly so lucky and grateful. So whatever the old normal was, what I have to always remember is that tonight when she was playing with Talking Tom Cat on my iPad she had him say, “I love my mommy, she is the best.” I’m beyond happy with that as my new normal.
Everything about this little one is adorable. Everything. I always love when I get to follow a little one through the first year and I cannot wait to debut mom and dad at his one year photos this summer!
When we went to see the Child Life Specialists at the hospital this week, I had no idea what they had in store for Maura. The asked her if she wanted to be a part of an art show called Celebrate Life that is currently being exhibited at NWTC. And they were also wondering if she would mind if her painting day was featured on the local news. Miss Kim of Healart.org (Helping Elevate through Art and Love and boy does she do just that!) spends countless hours helping so many people through art and the culminating event is coming up on May 23. There are over 68 pieces of art on display and for sale! The Child Life Specialists at St. Vincent’s have done so much to help Maura cope and deal with some really big issues for her age and we are so grateful for all they do. So if you are free and need some amazing art for your walls, come out and support a wonderful cause.
Anyway – Of course Maura wanted to paint! I was a little worried that she would be shy and/or close up when a camera came in the room. But she amazed me once again. She charmed everyone in the room with her giggles and hopefully this Sunday morning she’ll warm the hearts of those watching Channel 5. It’d be hard not to fall in love in my opinion 😉
There are really no words for how cute this little man is! Many more to come 🙂
